May's Mighty Morphing Music Review

I'm BACK! Did you miss me? I would hope so. I missed you gys.......No really.....I did. Honest. But, finals are over and I have more time to spend with you guys than ever. I know I have said this a thousand times, but continue to keep looking for changes coming your way from us. We are working very hard to get you guys what you want (i.e. new music), but untill then I have dug hard to find a ton of bands to keep your ears busy.

Where to start? Well, this month's highest two are probably This Providence and Boys Like Girls. This Providence has a very up beat sound and tons of music that you can jam to. The lead vocalist is what does it for me. They have a unique sound and catchy lyrics that will leave their songs stuck in your head for days. Boys Like Girls are a little on the Emo side, b ut still have a great rockin' sound. These guys are incredibly musically talented and know how to make you dance. Two other bands to have a heads up for are Brighten and All Time Low. Brighten has an amazing sound. Their faith, like This Providence, is apparent in their lyrics. The are true rockers to the core and are quickly soaring to the top of my faves list. All Time Low has a more fun, punkish sound. These guys like to be crazy and if you like the sound of New Found Glory, these guys will be sure to appease you.

My top three, then, are Boys Like Girls, Brighten, and This Providence. I encourage you to check them out. Your inner rocker will love you. As always, stay tuned to our Myspace (www.myspace.com/annabellesrunway) to catch updates. I think there is a pretty sweet vid of us doing a D-Now up if you would like to catch that.

We love you and are striving hard everyday to get you more of what you need: A lot of God and a little music.

Finals Finally Finagle Freshman's Freedom

Bonjur all! I come to you today from the sunny shores of Delusion Paradise. If you can't tell, finals are on their way and the preparation for such intense undertakings is wearing me down. It's okay, though. Just another week and a hlaf and I am free for summer. That's good for you, too, because we should be getting a lot of work done with all the free time we'll have. I know you're excited about catching some of the new material and we're happy to throw it your way.

I know May isn't here yet, but in the midst of my research, the procrastination there of has enabled me to stumble upon some rather astounding discoveries. Your "Band-o-the-Month" is, again, a draw between two fine groups of musicians. The Send (www.myspace.com/thesend) is heading towards the top of my list, but Ruth (www.myspace.com/ruthrock) isn't trailing by much. Both have a lot to bring to the table in the way of awesome lyrics and phenomenal music composition. The Send has more of a piano pop/rock feel while Ruth is exploring new horizons in the indie field. Either way, I think you'll be elated by tuning in to either one of them.

Short post today, I know, but there isn't a whole lot happening on this front as far as music by way of school. But, we do love you and appreciate you stopping by to see how we're doing. When things get a little less extensive and I have more to write aboutthat would interest you. Anyway, at least now you know you're day has been way more exciting than mine.

Much love and blessings,
Aaron

Outside in the middle of the night......with you......

Howdy, hiedi, ho there everyone! Sorry I haven't posted in so long, but I wanted to leave my last post up long enough so that everyone would get to know us and feel close to us. That way, if we catch you at any of our shows we will act like old friends who haven't seen each other in a long time; we could hug and laugh and when it's all over I'll go home thinking, "I wish I knew their name...."

It'll all work out, though.

Well being a musician and always on the prowl for music I haven't heard that I might possibly take a liking to, I have a general "Band of the Month." This month has been particularly tricky because it's down to two bands and I just can't choose. I found out about Nevertheless (www.myspace.com/nevertheless) a little while ago, but recently acquired their album just the other day and Sherwood (www.myspace.com/sherwood) has been in my list of listens, but not frequently visited. This month, though, I have discovered how truly fantastic both of them are. It's a toss up right now since both of them have been streaming through my iPod nonstop the past week or two.I encourage you to check out the both of them. I think you will find them as dandy as I do and, trust me, your ears will thank you later.

We, ourselves, have also been working on new material that we can't wait to debut to all of you. I have to get home first before anything can be done and that is proving to be quite a challenge. Hopefully, we will get our act together, get you some new material, and get you some dates and locations up on where you can catch us if you're itching ears yearn to hear more than the mediocrity you hear on our Myspace page (www.myspace.com/annabellesrunway).

In the meantime, whynot pick up a good book and expand your mind. I would reccomend one of the two I have been reading. Velvet Elvis by Rob Bell is phenomenal and I find myself enjoying more time with it than my other project, Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis.

Poke your eyes out and keep your ears waxed for more from us. We love you and Jesus does, too.

Much love and blessings,
Aaron

A picture's worth a thousand words.......so four should really get you talking......

I found out today that apparently I begin all my posts with the word "Well." I don't know why I do that. I guess it's just my way of inviting you, the reader, into my conversation. In light of that, I am open for any suggestions on how to properly begin a blog. I might try the blunt side of things and hit you with a bit of philosophy or truth, but most likely I'll just do like every other annoying person on the face of the planet and interrupt your streaming train of thought with my meaningless, mindless rabble. Either way, we both get what we want. Or, that's how it works out in my mind.

SO (that works), all that aside, I decided for this post that, since you haven't seen any of our gorgeous faces (which means you are really missing out on some of GOD's most astounding creations), I would post some cute, rather histerical, photos of each of us and clarify a little bit on our position in our little orchestral ensemble (little wordy today, huh).

Aaron Sexton: Acoustic Guitars, Guitars, Vocals, Just all around good looking guy

Bryant Cunningham: Drums, Percussion, Transportation Supplier, Chic Magnet

Ryan Rainer: Guitars, Effects, Noise Maker, The source of all our hilarity

Scott Ligon: Bass, Production, Guitar Master, Father of Cutest Kid Ever (see #1 fan), Youngest at heart of all of us

Raelyn Ligon: #1 Fan, source of all our joy, in charge of laughing and being the general center of attention

There you go (that's another good one). That is us in all of our glory. Now when you make the extensive journey to catch some of our upcoming shows (details posted later) you will know each of us personally......almost.

Until then (now I'm on a roll), I leave you with some music critique. I have recently discovered a band worthy of my and (hopefully) your attention. Number One Gun has a great sound that I think will rank highly among us who like the punk/rock fun sound. You can check them out at www.myspace.com/numberonegun.

I hope you have enjoyed spending time with us today and I pray that you have a wonderful Easter holiday. Let us now take the rest of the time you will spend in my absence dwelling on the true meaning we are allowed to call ourselves GOD's children.

So take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weak knees. Mark out a straight path for your feet so that those who are weak and lame will not fall but become strong. -Hebrews 12:12-13

Decisions, decisions

Well, the past week was very straining and busy, but fulfilling none the less. I had a lot of things to do, but felt very accomplished when I completed them. Now that I have had a whole 2 days to rest over the weekend, it's time to dive back into this ferociously busy week and do it all over again.

I find it a bit hard to ballance college with my church (www.beechstreetfbc.org) and band activities. Praise GOD for helping me get it all done. I did, however, come to find myself on the brink of an important decision. I have been contemplating purchasing a new guitar. I have played acoustic thus far, but as my musical fancy broadens, I have picked up learning a little electric from Ryan, our lead guitarist.

Here's where I would like your help. I have made several choices of guitars I am interested in. I would like you to comment and tell me your opinion is on my choices and which one of them I should get.

All of these guitars can be found at www.musiciansfriend.com. I am a big fan of the hollowbody (the two on top), The two Les Paul's are still very nice. I am not neccessarily going to get those brands, Epiphone and Ibanez are just the ones that came up first with the styles that I like. I will most likely pick up the hollowbody, if I choose it, from www.rondomusic.net. Their guitars are better made, sound great, and a lot cheaper.

So, now that I have invited you to join my dilemma, please help me out of it. As for me, I am off to try to survive this busy day and not leave GOD behind in it.

Much love and blessings,
Aaron

The bags under my eyes are heavier than the weight on my shoulders.........

Well, I figured it was time for another update. I really want this blog to do well and get lots of feedback, so I hope the more I update, the better tht gets.

So, if you know anything about the band, which most of you don't since we're new.....Really new.....you know that GOD has blessed us with an awesome oppurtunity to work with Josh Hesse of Groove Roots (www.grooveroots.com). He is hoping to get us on track as a band and get us where we want to go in our ministry. You can check out his blog in my "Cool Places to See" section. Anyway, needless to say, there has to be a lot of tail busting to get us started off on the right foot. Though, if you want to be difficult, you can start off on the left one instead.

We, like most bands just starting out, are.........in every sense of the phrase..........DIRT POOR. We are broke beyond repair and have to build capital so that we can get you, our adoring fans, cool things like stickers and shirts and, even better, even a record. To get capital, we have to travel and play shows so people know who we are. To travel and become known, we have to call venues and ask if we can play there. To call venues we have to have a press kit so they know we don't stink. To get a press kit we have to remember everything we've don, where we've already played, and what we're about and put it into a professional looking format that puts a smile on the reader's face. Our progress on all this you ask? About 5%.

We are, however, gearing up to pack out the summer with shows. I am excited about traveling. I haven't done too much of it in my lifetime, so I am excited at the prospect of seeing lots of new places and rocking lots of new faces. I am excited about all the doors GOD has opened for us and the way He continues to use us and build our ministry.

The tasks are tedious. The days are long. The sleep is little. But, the joy of why we do what we do and the lives we are able to touch through this make it all worth it. Pray for us as we get ready to take our dream to the next level.

Much love and blessings,
Aaron

Grindin' It........

Well, I figure it's time for another update seein' as how a new week is beginnin'. We played some good shows on my Spring Break. We did a great show in Naples, TX for a small, fun crowd and got some cool fans out of it. Buildin' the Street Team baby! We also played a D-Now for a local church n Texarkana, AR. The kids were great and we had a blast. 7 sweet peeps found a Savior and a few others picked Him up right where they had left off. All in all it was terriffic. Things got a little messy with a raid on the Jr. High girls that ended up with lots of toilet paper being thrown and some van windows covered in sardines w/mustard sauce. I am back in Dallas, now, and the guys are back home hittin' the books waiting for this semester of crazy conundrums to be over But, we had a great time rocking out for Jesus and seeing Him move in such an awesome way. Workin' on more music. Maybe you can catch it on the Myspace soon. Much love and blessings.
